From a Winterthur pioneer to a Swiss quality brand
A Swiss family business in its second generation
After successfully launching numerous innovative ALBANESE® products dating back to 1977, Giulio Albanese founded Albanese Baumaterialien Import-Export in Winterthur in 1990.
In 1997, strong business made a move to new premises in Winterthur-Wülflingen, at Maienriedweg 1a, necessary. Soon afterwards, in 1998, the company was certified to EN ISO 9001.
Now in its second generation, the Swiss family business distributes its own ALBANESE® products worldwide – protected by hundreds of patents – cementing the legacy of a Swiss quality brand for innovative construction technologies.
Converted into a public limited company in 2010, Albanese Baumaterialien AG continuously produces and sells a high-quality, broad range of building systems, formwork accessories and construction tools through to safety clothing, enjoying an excellent reputation both at home and abroad.
Giulio Albanese
In the 1960s, Giulio Albanese came to Winterthur as a tourist to visit his father and older brother. What began as a holiday soon became a change of home. His inventive spirit gave him no rest, and he tackled one problem after another until he found a satisfying solution.
In 1977 he took the step into self-employment and gave builders exactly what they needed most: making work easier. This was the birth of the very first ceiling-edge formwork system.
In 1979, the first patented Albanese products premiered at Swissbau in Basel. In 1990, Giulio Albanese founded Albanese Baumaterialien Import-Export and distributed his products independently from then on – with an export share to Germany and Austria of up to 20%.

The three brothers continue the family tradition of the company founded in 1977 by their father Giulio and ensure that Albanese Baumaterialien AG remains one of the Swiss market leaders in building materials through constant innovation. This includes a clear commitment to the Winterthur location and to the «Made in Switzerland» label. The continuous development of new products, processes and techniques is the basis of lasting success: products of the highest quality and safety at competitive prices, combined with excellent advice.
